Digital Skills for Youth Program
Digital Skills for Youth is an initiative of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada. It is part of the Government of Canada’s Youth Employment Strategy and aligns with the government’s Innovation and Skills Plan, a multi-year plan to make Canada a world leader in innovation and create employment opportunities for youth to build the digital skills needed for the evolving digital economy.
The program connects underemployed post-secondary graduates with small businesses and not-for-profit organizations to support organizational technology goals and foster the career development of the intern.
Funding is a maximum of $30,000 for each internship. This is 100% reimbursement of wages, mandatory employment related costs (vacation pay, EI, CPP and WCB) as well as an upskilling bursary. The bursary amount is up to $4,000 within the maximum funding provided.
